Protest in favor of Arvind Kejriwal: The constituent parties of the INDIA block, which are facing political conflicts from Delhi, Punjab, West Bengal, Haryana to Kerala, finally got a chance to show unity and this opportunity came due to the deteriorating health of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is in jail. The leaders of the opposition alliance shared the stage at Jantar Mantar and raised their voice for Kejriwal’s health and release.
From Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to SP, Congress, Trinamool Congress and Left leaders, all protested in one voice against the arrest of Kejriwal and strongly attacked the alleged repressive policies of the central government.
There is conflict in the states but we are together at the centre
Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal, who was present on the stage, was described as a lioness by NCP general secretary Sitaram Yechury, while someone advised Bhabhi to stay on the path of struggle. But it is also true that the entire leftist clan including Yechury gets offended when Mamata, who wiped out the Left from Bengal, is described as a lioness. Overall, the parties of India, who are fighting political battles among themselves in many states, used this occasion only to give the message that everything is normal in the opposition camp and in the states, we are different only as per the agreement. At the central level, we are all one.
The opposition alliance is unable to give the message of alternative
However, in the Lok Sabha elections too, Congress and AAP took different paths in Punjab. In Delhi, they kept pretending to be united. Perhaps this is the reason why the people of Delhi did not like this kind of electoral union. Obviously, assembly elections will be held in Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand in a few months and the opposition alliance is not able to give the message of any political alternative to the public. Neither has the block shown unity in alternative policies till now nor has it shared any vision regarding governance properly, which would create a good image in the minds of the people.
In such a situation, political experts believe that the message being sent to voters is that this opposition block is not based on any solid foundation but is only dependent on the BJP and the Prime Minister. Narendra Modi This is just an attempt to stand against the Congress in some way. Political experts also present evidence of this. The way Congress and AAP leaders have been spewing fire against each other in Punjab is not hidden from anyone. In Delhi too, Congress and AAP have parted ways and do not miss any opportunity to launch political attacks against each other.
Didi is not supporting in West Bengal
The tension between the two components of the INDIA block is so intense that it is not seen with the BJP. At the same time, the wife of Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D. Raja contested the election against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala and this was further confirmed. Raja was seated on the stage of Jantar Mantar and was talking to the Congress leaders in a very light mood and was trying to give the message of forgetting some differences. The political upheaval between the Congress and Mamata Banerjee’s party in Bengal is also well known.
INDIA Block trying to cover up the cracks
Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary keeps attacking Mamata and her government. There is no smooth relationship between the leftist parties and Mamata Banerjee. In Haryana too, the conflict between AAP and Congress is visible publicly. Lok Sabha Elections Aam Aadmi Party leaders never miss an opportunity to accuse Congress of being behind the defeat of AAP candidate in the Lok Sabha. Now AAP has announced to contest on all 90 seats in Haryana. This means that the message is clear that political conflict between the constituent parties in the India block will increase in all the important states. At the same time, this alliance, which is busy cornering the government in the Parliament, is trying to cover up its rift.
CBI rubbed salt into the wound
BJP is already not leaving any opportunity to deflate the block. In such a situation, it had become necessary to send a message of unity so that the internal strife does not weaken the strategy of INDIA Block to corner the Modi government at the center during the Parliament session. The opportunity also came due to Kejriwal’s health. In such a situation, the compulsion of the parties of this alliance to gather at Jantar-Mantar against Kejriwal’s arrest can be understood. Just a day before the Jantar-Mantar gathering, the CBI in its charge sheet declared Arvind Kejriwal as the kingpin of the alleged liquor scam. Obviously, this gave a setback to the campaign of INDIA Block.
CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury could not stop himself from discussing this. He said that if CBI has made allegations against Kejriwal, then he should be punished after investigation and proof. He said that what is the justification of keeping him in jail from now onwards. The compulsion to mention the charges framed against Kejriwal was clearly visible in Yechury’s statement.
What kind of alliance is this?
Now there is a question among the public that what kind of alliance is this, whose parties are fighting elections against each other everywhere and yet show unity at the centre. Analysts believe that it should not be surprising if the public starts calling it a solid example of opportunistic politics.
However, this protest was held at Jantar Mantar on Tuesday from 1 pm to 5 pm. During this time, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, Ram Gopal Yadav, ND Gupta, Pramod Tiwari, Gaurav Gogai, Sanjay Raut, Sharad Pawar and Manoj Jha and CPI’s D. Raja also participated in this protest.
Parties like Aam Aadmi Party, Congress, Samajwadi Party, Trinamool Congress, DMK, CPI, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Nationalist Congress Party, Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SP), Shiv Sena (UBT) and Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation and RJD also participated in this demonstration. The aim of all these parties was to show unity on the stage, but outside the stage the parties are seen working on their own agenda.
